once upon a time, long ago, before the Bird of Time, there was an open class sailplane called the Legionaire. It featured aluminum spars. The wings would flex but not break, but after a coupla hard season's worth of launches, the spars would work harden

Sorry, but I am sure that Pat Bowman's Sonic has exceeded 100mph at Parker

similar to Pat's) exceeding 90 mph in medium winds (20-25 mph approx.) on
Monday.
Well if you want to be picky... Steve
I would worry about it being excessively tail heavy if you mount the battery behind
the CG.

Man, my Dremel had these problems since it was brand-new. I gotta try this.
BTW, the worst part about the virbration was that it would cause the speed control

I'm building 2 sailaire kits (1 sailplane and 1 electric) and was wondering
if anyone has tried replacing the 2 steel wing rods with carbon fiber rods.
The wing rod diameter is 5/16".
If carbon fiber would be strong enough it would mean a weight saving of
aprox. 8 oz.

True we were in the 90s, but
Please a couple of you are missing the point. I have launched EPP with a bungee many
times also where Im sure the aircraft was doing over 100 mph.
The TA-152 did 107 mph where it counts, on a normal front side slope pass, no bungee,
not DSing.
I don't think this has been done before with a all

Excuse me, but I'm having a problem with the quoted weight of the Spectre.
5.5 ounces With four servos and tail weight added? This is more shocking
than Scott Hewett buying a foamie.
A paltry 5.5oz! I just can't grasp this. I'm feeling faint. I'm going to lay
down for a while.

I'm looking for a driving partner and or room mate for the Mid South. If
you are going and live within a couple three hour from Raleigh or are coming
through, please contact me ASAP. I hate to have to drive the 10 hours
alone. I already have a room cheaper than the $67 show special. gv

MoM slope racing is about efficiency and pilot ability. Straight line speed has little
to do with efficiency. Half piping a little
more, but not much. Kinda like debating which is better - Formula 1, or Funny Cars.
I just received a photograph (and video as well), that you'll have to
see to believe.

Question is in the subject, but...
I am thinking of converting my Gentle Lady into an
e-plane. I would like to keep it relatively cheap and
easy. I have Speed-400 experience with my Zagi-400.
Will the Speed-400 be ok for the GL or should I think
about 480 or 550?
Thanks!
P.S.-I am physics
My instruction booklet for the Highlander does not cover aileron initial
throw and differential settings. What seems to work the best?
Thanks in advance!!

Where can I find wing joiner rods for a Dornier motorglider. I need the rear
rod. It appears to be about 3/16", but a 3/16 rod won't fit. It is just a
little too big. I'm wondering if it is metric. So I'm looking for someone
who sells the rods or someone who can say it is metric or not.
What can I say? After four days of turn and burn slope flying over in California, Steve
Willcox and I were ready to head home to Phoenix. There are very few times when we
leave a
hill while the wind is still blowing and it's daylight. The ISR gang treated everyone
