giving a demo for some school kids at a small field in suburban big-money

The first fully synthesized radio has been up graded for the 21st century. The programming cable has now been eliminated and more memory added. A scanner has been built into the transmitter and with the use of more SMT technology gives you even better reliability and lighter weight.

Its not so much TCP/IP as flying by something that's a bit like 802.11. You
may have noticed that wireless networks are starting to pop up everywhere
and they, unlike our R/C stuff, seem to have no problems sharing

It doesn't matter anyway. The sucker that shoots you down is going to turn
on AFTER you are in the air.

Yes, this does sound like a business opportunity. However, I caution anyone
from trying it.
The majority of pilots are either cheap, have limited funds or *both*. This
would be ridiculously simply to do and not too expensive. Yet, I know of *no
one* who has. Have any of the guys who recently lost
Except that, I believe, signals of the opposite shift will only disable the
receiver and NOT make it move about to sufficiently act as an indicator.

This Saturday, October 19th, TPG will be holding a club contest.
Tasks will be announced at the Pilots meeting and determined based on the
anticipated flying conditions of the morning.
The contest will be held at the Poway Thermal field. Directions can be found

Hi Richard,
I wonder about a few things regarding Shoot downs.
If you want to check your frequency befor flying go to Radio Shack
and buy a scanner.
Secondly, tell your friends not to adjust their planes in their campers
or at the
back of their cars. Not when there is a contest going on. I have se
I collected (or at least tried to) the list of planes being flown at
Visalia. I've been busy since I got back but will try to make some time
this weekend to type it all up. I will post the list to RCSE and
hopefully someone will also volunteer to put the list on their website.

Anyone know what the wing loading is for the Wedgie?
Or just the wing area?

Hey, why not via TCP/IP through 802.11b? There's enough bandwidth that
EVERYONE could be on the same channel, and control their planes? Then
instead of those expensive cameras we could put in webcams, for live video.
We could even webcast the telemetry, and let users all over the world watch

You gotta think that it wouldn't take much new development work to implement
a little cell-phone technology into our gear so that each receiver knows
which radio transmission to respond to. Something like a URL assignment.
Then we could have thousands of planes in the air on just one freq.

All this makes me wonder, how hard would it be for radio manufacturers to
equip the trannys with a warning light, something to the effect of a "hey,
somebody's already transmitting on this frequency!!" light.

The Los Banos BASH is THIS Sunday.
Last month the conditions were *perfect* and only ONE lone pilot showed up.
This month that SAME pilot will be there. I'd hate for him go home
disappointed. Incidentally, he's one of the best pilots I know to fly with.
You'll have fun.

Has somebody compiled the planes used at Visalia?

This is the second iteration, but it doesn't have camber sliders on the
side so it's not a real option to me. At least the case is the right
