Hi, I am new to the list, names Dave and I live on the Arizona-Utah line, near Lake Powell. How come I never hear about the Mini-Max ? It was the 2nd plane I owned. (Several years ago when I was still learning to fly, I had a little depth perception problem on a landing and hit my van with it.) I was thinking of getting another one. I am quite remote so I don't compete and only fly 4 or 5 times a month, by my self. But I have been torn on whether or not to get a higher performance ship. The Mini Max has a wing loading of only 3.6 oz/sq.ft. and is about 120", all wood, and would go up when other sail planes I now fly won't. For all of you that have flown both types my question is : Am I missing out on not going to a fancier faster open class plane? Pros and cons welcome.
