That model is a small pusher prop version of SS1 built by Dan Kreigh, of
UFO/IFO fame. 

It's made from carbon fiber rods and lightweight nylon ripstop cloth. It
flies pretty well as long as it's not too windy; the feather even works.

I watched a special on this last nite, "Black Skies" - they ended the
show with someone flying an RC model of Spaceship One around the runway.
I'm guessing it to have been a little electric ducted fan, basing that
on the fact that it kept climbing (doesn't look like much of a
thermaler).... 

Did fly like it was born to.
 
I just wonder who's next to step up and go - I think the door's just
been kicked open.  Mapeleaf, you got a secret project on the board? <g>
