Sunday my slope vacation started at Vincent for the last in the F3F
series. Plenty of Pilots came out to race but Tom forgot to invite Mr. Wind.
After kicking the dirt and fondling all of the new glass for an hour the
race was called and everyone went to Parker. Just a few miles away and the
slope was kicking. Lots of foam action and and some fast glass. We flew
through sunset.

Monday I had business in LA and didn't get on the hill before 2:00. Breck
Baldwin and Pat Bowman were already there and Pat was ripping his new plank
called the JW. This is the next foamy you want to buy for DS. The fastest
foamy to date, no big surprise since Joe designed it and Pat kited it. We
had a great crowd on Monday and were treated to some pretty good wind
conditions. Combat is always more fun in a crowd.

Tuesday morning we were on the hill before noon and greeted by east wind. On
the drive up I kept getting glimpses of Breck tearing up the sky with his
Renegade. DS conditions were smooth and I got the Millennium going faster
than anything I have flown to date. Later in the day the lift was on and
off. When the slope is on the edge of the desert there can be some really
big thermals. There were thermals so strong that our big ole foam wings were
able to climb out to a speck, strong enough to engage in combat while
thermaling!!! Bigger and Stronger than any thermal I have ever flown in.
The lull in the wind was ended by a wind shift. For the last 2 hours we had
west winds with great DS conditions and Joe showed us the way. Impressive, I
wish I had the thumb skills to fly that well. For the third night in a row
we flew through a beautiful sunset.

I got to fly a bunch, see some old friends, make some new ones and didn't
break to many sailplanes. Another great soaring vacation, I hope it holds me
over until June.

We took heaps of pictures I will try to get them up on my soaring page
tomorrow.
