I used a CF tube as a spine that doubled as sheaf
for the elevator pushrod - bad idea, as the rod didn't
compress like the rest in hard landings, so the last
free inches of the pushrod got bent time and tine again!

I would - if I built a new one - use 2-3 thin (1.2 mm) CF rods
to stabilize the fuselage. Nothing more is needed! In case
of a heavy crash the front part of the rods will break, thus
saving servos, et cetera!
