The best answer to the MOM draw problem is a modification of the "Swiss System" used for chess tournaments. In the first round, the pairings are made by seeding the players; thereafter, players with similar scores are paired. A good explanation is at http://www.lexicon.net/ianandjan/Ian/Chess/SwissExplanation.htm Since a sailplane contest can have flight groups of more than two flyers, the pairing system becomes a grouping system, but the basic principle can be maintained. It should be pretty easy to write a VBA program attached to an Excel spreadsheet that would do the groupings, score each round, group the next round, and so on. I haven't done it because our club doesn't do MOM, but I found that it took only a short time to write a scoring spreadsheet. Check out the Swiss rules at the above URL and give it a try. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
