Mark Navarre died Sunday when his ASW-20 impacted terrain on the white mountains.
He was one of my best friends, and we had the best times ever flying both full scale and R/C gliders together.

This is indeed awful news. While I did not know Mark as well as others,
I did know him and his love of flying. He sent me some pics of his ASW
just after he got it.
What can I say? We lost one of the good guys!!

Circa 1982, and I'm into SCCA Solo II (autocross) fairly heavy. At the
San Diego events, a guy befriends me out of the blue, I guess partly
because he also ran a Toyota Corolla and was interested in what I had
done to the car. This guy was Mark Navarre. I saw him on a

My first encounters with Mark involved very strong bungees and very small
airplanes going
very fast. We had a blast at a couple of SWC's bungeeing foamies at
ridiculous speeds and
trying to make them do things that no airplane should ever do. I will always
remember those
carefree moments in time
