Dan deVries suggestion for using formica backer sheet is great. I didn't know it existed. I just wonder if its as available as the formica scraps I pick up at my local cabinet shop? I agree that the problem with regular formica is the finished and unfinished sides of the sheet. I solved the problem by laminating 2 sheets together, back to back, in order to get rid of the bowing. I use 3M-77 to laminate. Its just a small pain in the butt to do this extra step! I like the other ideas for template materials too.
