A small gas-powered generator couldn't deliver the
400+ amps (even more stalled) that winch motors
pull, and a 12v generator large enough to deliver
the current would weigh more than a deep-cycle
battery.
I do recall seeing plans in one of the model mags
for a gas engine powered winch. I've
