Now and again a thread pops up here about great aviation books.  Just
finished one that deserves mention.  It hearkens back to the time before GPS
and radar when cables were the connection between the controls and the
control surfaces.  "The Long Way Home" describes the journey of a Boeing
Clipper seaplane trapped at Auckland on Dec  7, 1947.  PanAm ordered the
crew to get the plane to New York but they had to go the long way to avoid
the Japanese.  Spielberg could make a great movie based on this book.  It's
a good read.
