Has anyone out there successfully made a mold off of an Omega/Highlight
wing?
I've got an Omega 1.5 that I really enjoy as far as the flying and the
asthetics of the wing. I'd like to be able to make a mold of the curved
ellipical leading edge and use it to create some wings of my own.
Once I had a mold completed, I could make a layup of kevlar and uni-carbon
and pour some liquid expanding foam into the mold. Once the foam cured, I
would trim off the excess and make balsa ribs, trailing edges and ailerons.
A brass tube inserted into the wing root could be set to give dihederal.
All in all, it does not sound like too difficult of a project, but I did
want to ask if anyone else has had any luck with doing this.
