-Drifting off soaring, I taught myself to fly a heli w/ a Raptor 50. Never used a simulator, but did use a device called the RotoPod, basically a big set of trainig gear with a swiveling/tilting aluminum bar on on top which the Heli mounts to. You have the option of "flying" the heli on the rotopod head w/o actually lifting off, then when you feel comfortable you can lift off the ground and really fly. In my opinion this was far better than a simulator. Advanced in small steps and never broke anything while learning. Highly reccomend the RotoPod, at least for nitro heli, dont think it would work well with electrics. Sorry for the off topic stuff.
