Woops, sent it by accident before finishing it. I was trying to get someone at AOL to tell me again how to keep my post from printing a second time mostly gibberish and clicked by accident on the wrong part of my post-in-construction.
When I got back into model planes in the early 1990s I asked the AMA for my original number, 12118, which I got in the 1950s. They were happy to give it to me. More recently, when I became a CD they asked me if I wanted to truncate my number to 4 digits: 2118. I declined because I like my original number. It's only one digit different, and I won't have to change the IDs on planes I have. That was fine with them too.
