One method I've ehard being used to determine the CG on a new plane is to replicate 
the plane in smaller scale with card stock or cardboard, and flight test the dummy 
model with different cg's then transfer this tot he real model for first flight, just 
to get it close in the range...  this only works if you keep the small dummy model in 
scale and proportion with the larger one... the relative weights of the parts have to 
be the same....
