Put it wherever you can do it practically.
Get rid of the break. You don't want anything rubbing on the monofilament line. It will damage the line.
If you want to machine something for a one-way bearing, then a KK-25 or equivalent will work just fine. Depending on where you get them, they are anywhere between $80 and $150 each.
