The Southern California Soaring Clubs (SC-2) announces its first annual series of Hand Launch Glider contests. The first contest will be sponsored by Harbor Soaring Society, at their field in Costa Mesa, on Sunday, May 28 - the lasr weekend before the International HLG Festival in Poway. Harbor will be flying several of the IHLGF tasks, so it will also serve as a good last practice. The remaining SC-2 HLG contests already scheduled are July 1, at SULA in Carson, August 19, at Inland Soaring Society in Riverside (bring sunscreen and ice), and September 30 at Thousand Oaks Soaring Society. We hope to add at least two more contests, and there will be year end awards for the series. More information will be posted on the SC-2 website - www.sc-2.org - and we may also set up a separate hlg website.
