Just to finish it:      +1 cent
With the nose pointing down you get a additional fraction of Gravity force
puling the glider forward to the new higher speed until new drag setting
equals  above.With the same trim setting( as before entering the lift) you
will fly faster in the lift.Stronger uplift faster relative airspeed
difference. Faster plane( heavier plane) less noticeable  STEP UP but
noticeable increase in speed.For a light plane big STEP UP and small
additional speed .
