Just do what the receivers used to do in the NFL, spread some sticky stuff on the bottom of the plane.  A tube of goop per flight should do.  Just as long as you don't stay up too long so as it dries.

Then have the other half of the velcro on our plane's noses.  It will protect the fuses from getting scarred up and, there won't be a need for those oh-so-scarry skegs and we won't have to worry about bouncing off the plates.
