Beaufort Scale observations can be even more accurate than observations
made with hand-held devices, because you can avoid not only boundary layer
distortions where the observation is LOWER than the true wind speed, but also
avoid venturi effect distortions at the lip of the slope where the observation is
HIGHER than the true wind speed.
