ALL voltage checks should be done at a spare RX plug (etc) while the RX and TX are both turned on.  This is the condition under which the battery is operating.  All other measurements are irrelevant, unless measuring capacity (which is a different thing all together.)  I have used the led strips successfully for several years.  If its (the relative voltage reading) not in the top two greens, I hook up to my "Sirius" for ~ 15 minutes, every other flight.  (my flights are usually 7-10 minutes).  At the price of $10 each (or so) is makes good sense to stick one inside every ship you have.  (the led strip, not a Sirius)

Enough about that.

"Sport Tubes" :  Maybe we should call these "liars tubes" as we seem to be prevaricating about contents.  Possibly we need to fess up to the airlines and ask the real question, thereby obtaining a statement that can be published and used as needed when "negotiating" with airlines personnel (who have blackbelts in customer management).  Another consideration is what might happen if one does lie and gets caught.  Being detained by the FBI (or some other organization.... there are several)  might make one rethink the "snowboard fib" ploy.
A snowboard keychain?.....  You gotta be kidding!
