I know it's not recomended, but guys at our club have had interesting
results by mixing crystals and receivers around.
There seems to be no set rules, but by trial-and-error we have been able to
extend the range of receivers quite significantly just by trying different
crystals.

So I would go ahead and experiment, if it is better than the original then
stick with it.

Although I always do my range and other tests at the field with other flyers
around so that if there's any interference related issues you'll pick them
up.
