I experimented with video output on a 5501 with very little success. I changed
to a Raspberry Pi (HDMI and CV) for video stuff - works a treat (and is much
cheaper and smaller).

1.33 never recognised my CF - 1.33c did.
Only change I've noticed.

Guys,
Not wanting to be a party pooper - but can this 'discussion' be taken
elsewhere (seeing as it's gone well past a Soekris issue)?

I run Transcend 4G with no problems at all - but the 8G isn't even
recognised by the BIOS (1.33c).

BIOS 1.32i is very old as well. 1.33c is the latest.
I presume you have the netboot.tar.gz files unpacked and ready to be served?
Also, have you set your DHCP server to actually pass the file name (pxelinux.0)
to the client?

Try Bios 1.33c. May or may not help - but it won't harm it :)

Why not use ATA's for the analogue side?
I've used the Grandstream ones a lot - and they seem to perform fine (so

PXE boot isn't really for the faint hearted. For a start you will need
a Linux PC with a DHCP server and a proper PXE configuration/image.
You can copy files straight to the SD card - but watch out for file
types (especially if you use a Windows machine to do it).
One thing I haven't tried (as I

I have a pre-buy question.

I have 'real' Debian working fine (all-be-it via pxe) - but I had to use
Lilo instead of Grub (Grub kept hanging). If you look at the Lilo conf
file there is an option to use the serial port in there. You just need
to edit it accordingly.
Good luck

In order to get Debian to boot off the CF card, I had to ditch GRUB and use
LILO. Don’t forget to use the 'console' version of the PXE config file and not
the standard version.
If you want a copy of my PXE stuff - drop me a mail - and I'll attach it to the
reply.
Cheers

Dave,
What does ztcfg -vvv display?
This could be more of a problem with ZapTel (assuming you are not using dahdi)
than your linux kernel.
Also, I suppose you realise that you will have trouble making analog handsets
ring - as the TDM cards require a 12v/5v input (as supplied by a PC power
'tty pc0'?
I installed Debian and had to use ttyS0. Not sure if that's your
problem - but it was for me.

Hi Hal
Just as a test - have you tried the soundcard on its own?
Why not try a PCI soundcard - just to prove to yourself that 'arecord'
works as it should?
