Well Virtual PC, the one MS bought from Connectix at some point, is already dead. You can run it on Win7 with some tricks, but it is EOL since mid 2008 or so. It was replaced with the HyperV tech (Server or Win8 desktop only btw...). My best bet would be, future wise, is the 'open source'
