It was a little interesting but I would have liked to have heard about
integration plans for OpenStack since it was mentioned and that it
seems to be the new cloud platform of choice.
On a side note expect RFE's from me soon for Spacewalk OpenStack
integration I'm currently testing OpenStack Folso

Am looking for suggestions for how to manage RHEL5 kernel updates with
Spacewalk.
My team has a small set of REHL5 hosts (<30) that we've been simply managing
updates via our own local internal repos and manual execution of yum when
needed. Our internal repos are generated via mrepo and consist
Hi,
I am in the processing of setting up a new Spacewalk server for my RHEL
machines. My current server is scheduled to be retired sometime in 2013. I am
running RHEL6.3 and using Spacewalk 1.7. On my current machine, I run
get_errata.pl. It works, but it's really slow. On my new machine, I wou

As a side note I have a user created specifically for submitting
variables which is restricted to only Configuration Management. Helps
reduce the security risk. And no, that is not my satellite password nor
the password for the submission user, for anyone wondering.

Thanks for the idea.
As I don't like spreading scripts on clients with login/password, I'll try
to do the same from the server (searching for systems without the custom
key set, and setting it if empty)
Thanks

Submit a custom system info variable back to the host profile and use
that in the config file. I have a bash script that runs during a build
that generates the values for variables then submits them back with a
python script.
ie:
#!/bin/bash
/root/bin/submit_custom_system_info.py hostname_sh

Thanks a lot you the answers.
As the spacewalk server doesn't have access to the internet without the
authenticated proxy, it's kind of a no go.
If I have time, I'll try to work on your scruipt to get it proxy compatible.
