Hello, the problem is most likely caused by long changelog in those rpms. IIUC spacewalk stores the changelogs in the DB, but there's limit. Longer changelogs get truncated and if the truncation happens in the middle of a UTF character, we get to this fishy situation. I'll try to find out more.

After some more searching and troubleshooting, it's starting to sound like satellite/spacewalk server doesn't run well in VmWare at all. I wasn't aware of this issue. It sounds like there are some timing issues that can cause the proxy to crash and some hard disk issues that cause the oracle in
