I had the same problemw when I first installed spamassassin with
qmailscanner. I found that I was using the -c -f switches with spamc.
-c = check only
-f = fallback safely - in case of comms error, dump original message
unchanges instead of setting exitcode

I read with great displeasure your InfoWorld article on Fighting Spam,
and felt the need to make a few corrections,
I am using an internal RBL list. When I test a header that is in the
list using the following command: /usr/bin/spamassassin -t
--prefs-file=/var/qmail/.spamassassin/user_prefs -D
/home/tmp/spam_test.txt,
it labels it as spam. However, when an email from the same server
arrives, it is not
SA labels other spam just not my internal RBL. I removed the -t option
and the header does pass.

Is there anyway to configure SA to not check spam status for certain
mailboxes? IE: my hr dept wants their resume acct not tag any email as
spam - regardless. I guess - is there a way to whitelist recepients?
Thank you

I currently use SA with Qmailscanner. I guess I can add these
mailboxes to my tcp.smtp db?

Is there a way with SA to generate a report every day (and email to
admin - me) with what spam it stopped? I wasn't sure if SA had an
option or if I had to use third party software.

Some of my users sign up for newsletters that SA views as spam (which is
correct due to the nature of the email). How can I allow these types of
emails through - are whitelists the only way? Any other options? I use
SA with qmailscanner that delivers to an exchange box.
Any thoughts would be
How do you configure a global whitelist for SA to use? I currently use

Subject: RE: [SAtalk] new to spamassassin and do
Hi,
New to spamassassin - just installed it on my redhat 8.0 linux box. I
have been looking for instructions on how to configure spamassassin with
qmail. I located two docs via google but they are somewhat different:
http://sylvestre.ledru.info/howto/howto_qmail_spamassassin.php
I am reading the online help and googling but I am not getting a clear
picture as to what to do. :(
Can anyone point me to a good - here's how to install spamassasin and
configure it?
I searched the archives but I might just be too stupid 'cause I can't
find anything :(
Thanks to all!
Cheers,
