Silly me and my lack of MRTG-fu. Swapping the "perminute" option for "perhour" worked. The box just doesn't get enough mail to make the "perminute" option work.

Nearly 80% of the email hitting that box is *spam* these days. That's rather frightening, and unfortunately, it's bloody accurate.
A side question: Has anybody using Gentoo linux found a good way to have spamd/spamc (I'm calling it out of a filter.sh script & amavis) log to another file? spamd isn't writing entries to /var/log/mail/current anymore.
I'm using metalog on the Gentoo box.
