I am using Redhat 7.2 with the default 2.4.7-10
kernel. I am also using the speedtouch / USB hotplug combination.
Whenthe link fails, it can never reconnect.
The only way Ican getback online is to reboot the
machine.

Indeed. I think the user-space option offers a lot for people that just
want to get it working with minimal fuss. I had tried to get the kernel-

Mmm, your using the kernel-mode drivers? wrong list I'm afraid. The user-
mode drivers use a plain old vanila pppd with an external program to to the
AAL5 encapsulation.

It's difficult to tell really, it does just seem to stop handling data! I
can't see any sign of the ppp connection being dropped, but network activity
(eg PINGs)

I have read that the alcatel speedtouch can be made
to work on the 2.2.17 kernel, however I fail to see the PPP support for sync tty
ports in the kernel options. Is there a patch for the kernel or is it
maybe a dist linked kernel like the Mandrake release ??
