Hi I am using Redhat 7.2 with the default 2.4.7-10 kernel. I am also using the speedtouch / USB hotplug combination. Whenthe link fails, it can never reconnect. The only way Ican getback online is to reboot the machine. Looking through theppplog, I see these messages: Nov 27 14:44:03

Hi Duncan First of all, apologies to all list members, I know this is technically off-topic! In what way does the link fail? It's difficult to tell really, it does just seem to stop handling data! I can't see any sign of the ppp connection being dropped, but network activity (eg PINGs)

Hi, I have read that the alcatel speedtouch can be made to work on the 2.2.17 kernel, however I fail to see the PPP support for sync tty ports in the kernel options. Is there a patch for the kernel or is it maybe a dist linked kernel like the Mandrake release ?? Regards, Michael
