[speedtouch] modem disconnects not stopping pppd?

It appears that on, at least Mandrake 10.1 official (kernel 2.6.9.1), when the ADSL line goes down, modem_run does not kill the running pppd and the existing pppd does not pick up the, successfully, restarted connection. Is this a config issue? Or is this a feature? Jan 30 17:29:46 newgate mode

It worked! Thank you, Gilles, from remembering me the debug option. I put it in place and next activation attempt showed me that the authentication was rejected by my ISP: I was not sending my userid and password! The issue was in pap-secrets file where the [EMAIL PROTECTED] and password were no
