I have a machine that has a speedtouch modem and I got it to
successfully work with a 2.4 kernel.

I recently upgraded the box to a 2.6.7 kernel and have endless problems.
I've read the archives and tried many of the solutions including using
'-e 1' with pppoa3, using pppoa2, upgradeing speedtouch to 1.3, and I
even applied the kernel patch that was causing OOPSs in ppp_sync, and
finally fixed that.

But still everytime it tries to connect I get:

I'm unclear as to why. When I boot back into 2.4 things go fine, but I
can't make this work in 2.6.7 for the life of me.

That said, 2.6 rather important as its required for some software that
only runs on 2.6 kernels.

I've been using 2.6.7 kernel in a redhad based distro. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.
