OK people. I got everything going again and connected OK. I managed to
request a webpage (www.yahoo.co.uk)
And it did retrieve it...eventually. It was incredibly slow and kept
stalling, but it did get there in the end...

data, which comes from 'pppoa2' I bet. I suppose you are using a UHCI USB
controller too. You may try the code from Tony and tell us the results...

I managed to get a connection first time out of this (I think). Maybe you
can all help me figure this out.
unfortunatly, I'm not the linux master I wish I was :P
I am running Mandrake 7.2 w/ 2.4.2
I left pppd as it was as was suggested below and compiled the modules
suggest into the kernel.
