on modem disconnects
more often because of bad connection detect (lcp results timeout but
connection was good - maybe too low timeout value)
and when the connection really hangs after many minutes nothing
happen so reconnection failed i think.

still up, I can ping on external IP , but not on P-t-p and any
other adress. debug is on and kdebug is set to 1, but in any log
file any errors are shown (/var/log/syslog,messages,debug - no
Speedtouch 330 USB - disconnect after random connect time (eg 6hrs,
24minutes, 5 minutes - totally random)
USB builtin kernel - 2.4.22 (slackware 9)
syslog:
