Powerbook, which is setup to run Gentoo Linux.
When I plug my green frog alcatel usb modem into the
machine everything seems to go fine.
It detects the modem and starts the connection

I can get my speedtouch 330 modem to work on my slackware 9.0 distro OK but i
have a problem with internet speeds.
When I'm in windows i downloaded a test file and was getting about 58KB
download speed but when in linux downloading the same files only gets about
15KB.

I’m running slackware 9.0 and having problems getting it running. I
followed the instructions on the web site and this is what happens when
I try to run it.

I have changed my settings from -vpi 8 -vci 35, to -vpi 0 -vci 38 as

You are using linux k
;t it. I was using the
wrong values for vpi and vci. This isn't very well documented in the HOWTO,
so I didn't find them until I read the pppoa3 man page (which I should have
done sooner, admittedly).
