I've just discovered another error mesage in /var/log/syslog : Nov 9 00:12:18 Paris kernel: HDLC line discipline: version $Revision: 3.3 $, maxframe=4096 Nov 9 00:12:22 Paris pppd[314]: CHAP authentication failed I only looked in /var/log/messages before. So the error seems to be about CHAP
