All,
After much fiddling (and a bit of luck) I finally found I had a (not
quite) dead fuel pump. Extremely frustrating . It would work fine for a
couple days, then die. Work a couple days & die. Ad infinitum. Finally
with my wife's help I found there was no fuel being delivered to the
carb. G

Looks like I am taking the Spitfire now (was planning to co-drive and
XK140 but that's now being trailered as the owner - a very nice chap in
the local club does not think his back will hold out).
So anyone on the list going? Its labor day weekend and held at PIR (info

Good Evening Listers;
Does anyone know of a low-cost radiator retrofit for a '78 Spit? I am contemplating a
new unit and find the $300 price a bit prohibitive. I researched the one from a early
80s VW, but unfortunately the inlet/outlets are on the same side of the radiator (but

Ok I can only assume a little heat will solve this problem?

My Spit was running very hot last year.
Had my original rad recored. The new core is more efficient as it is
made the same way modern rads are. That did fix the problem for a while.
This past few weeks, the Spit started running hot again. Turned out
that the rad cap needed to be replaced, it
Hi Spitters,
I've got some nice Spax shocks for my front suspension - but the screw that
you use to adjust them has broken - ie one side of the slot has broken off -
there for the screwdriver doesnt work.
There is also a larger sloted turnable-looking-thing that the screw sits in -

John & Graham-
Thanks to both for replying on this one. I think you both might be on to something,
mainly the sealing block. I did the complete engine rebuild several months back, and
she has been sitting dry since then. I did soak the wooden wedges, but is it possible
they dried out again, and

Hey listers, got a problem. I've got a very low profile (1.75") Permacool fan
that I'd like to mount as a puller on my 16" width Mk3 radiator. Only trouble
is, it will not clear the water pump pulley. Has anyone successfully mounted
an electric fan as a puller on a 16" radiator? If so, please

We replaced our tunnel with fiberglass. Had to drill holes for
connection to the inside of the firewall, not difficult, but was tricky
to line up where to drill the new holes with the spot they had to be.

Post it notes inside each bag that state what the part is for, left or

so, how? I saw a photo of a Spit with one not long ago, but don't remember
