And
Any Group 26 or 34 battery will fit fine, the 34 fills the whole battery box
while the 26 isn't as long. Canadian Tire #10-3478-2 is a 850 cca battery
with 3 year free replacement and 7 year pro-rata warranty, that's what I
have in mine. WAY more than you'll ever need.

I've always used group 26 batteries.
They fit a Spit, Midget, BGT all just fine.

Be careful! Some of those computers have the wrong data for Spits.
I got a battery once, from a computer listing, that was a very, very tight fit.
The next time I brought the old one with me and made sure the new
one was smaller. (I got it at Wal-Mart, which has perfectly good batteries real

Batteries are assigned size designations by 'group' numbers. The most
Cdn Tire have spitfires on the computer, not sure about roundtails but for
sure squaretails. I had to get a new battery for mine and I simply took the
measurements of the battery box and got the most powerful one to fit from
UAP. Those guys don't need to ask if you have an auto-trans to sell you
I need a new battery. The old one blew up while it was being recharged!
Any suggestions for a battery that will fit in the spit? A Canadian Tire
model would even be OK!

This all reminds me of something I saw on e-bay about a year ago. A guy specializes
in making new wood dashes for Spits. He occasionally puts one on e-bay. Right in his
e-bay ad, he put the URL to go to his business site, where you could see the exact
same dash for sale for something like $85
I was planning to bid over $71.00 for a Porsche club grill badge until I got
the bright idea to check their web site. Yup they still make them. Ordered
one for $22.00 including shipping.
