OK... question here... and something for people to
contemplate
People speak frequently of low pressure in Triumph
4 and 6 cyl engines. This too has been bugging me...
trying to understand why the pressure would drop so
much just from the engine warming up. Some people
say it's the oil and a
Well it turns out I got new brake lines from a local Earl's shop near me.
They worked out very nicely. On the expensive side, but I got them right away.
You can see the post about them on my blog.
They sure do look pretty:

I have some pix of my '69, which was dark blue. I doubt that the list will
handle attachments, but if you want, let me know and I can email some to you.

A lot of people do replace seals and the leaks will
soon double their efforts it seems.
Paul Tegler did a neat thing, where he developed his
own breathing system to eliminate that compression
build-up in the cylinder block (from blow-by and

> Does anyone here have a dark blue Spit?
A few years ago I had a roundtail Spit I painted in Delft Blue, it looked
pretty nice. It isn't as dark as you might want. I think I have a picture
or two of the whole car in blue, right now I can only find

I suspect the combination of that hot cam and the 4-1 headers has both
moved the HP peak up fairly high and reduced your low rpm torque quite a
bit. I had a similar setup on my car, but with a 1296 motor. It screamed at
5K+, but was gutless below 3K. A milder cam and stock header have made it

Aaaah! My Spitfire is leaking!!
Yeah, I know. Big surprise. But I'm thinking that replacing the oil pan gasket and the

I've found different colors DO look better or worse
based on the shape/style of the car.
I just went through this on a MGB I'm about to paint.
The final choice was a medium/dark gun metal gray metallic.
(non standard color) On this particular car it should look
really good with all the chrome.

i was going to stick with the British Racing green that was on it
originally, but i am entertaining other ideas as well. I don't thin

The rpm setting simply has the meter count the frequency of spark
pulses, and give a matching display based on the number of cylinders
it's told exist. So if the unit senses 2000 pulses per second, it will
display 1000 rpm for a four cylinder four cycle engine. (2000 pulses / 4
cylinders * 2 revol
