All,
After much fiddling (and a bit of luck) I finally found I had a (not
quite) dead fuel pump. Extremely frustrating . It would work fine for a
couple days, then die. Work a couple days & die. Ad infinitum. Finally
with my wife's help I found there was no fuel being delivered to the
carb. G
All,
When we decided to head out to Victoria B.C. for a vacation I had no
idea how much the people there love LBCs. In just 3-1/2 days I saw seven
different Spitires, a TR7 coupe, a TR7 roadster, two TR6s, a Herald, a
Sunbeam, a Lotus Elan, a Lotus Super Seven, an MGTD, more MGAs and MGBs

I've never been a real big Dennis Miller fan but...
Dennis Miller said recently, regarding the judges who declared the Pledge of

"So, Your Honor, the Pledge is unconstitutional because it says 'Under God'.
Guess that means when you were sworn in with your hand on a B
Terry and all,
I've eliminated fuel problems, unless it's really something obscure. I
tested the battery and foud 13V, as it should be. Tested the coil and
found 5V. A-HA! Got a new coil and... No joy! The new coil tests
at 5V. Any ideas?

'79 Spit, Bitsy

All,
This morning as I was leaving for work my '79 Spit died (furtunately
less than 1/2 mile from home). Here are the symptoms:
The car started and drove fine for a short distance. Upon making as left
turn, the engine stalled, came back, stalled, trid to come back and
stalled again. When tryi
All,
My wife, two daughters and I will be vacationing in Victoria B.C. this
July. Does anyone know any highlights we should consider "not miss"
(besides the Spitfire Grill in Sidney)? Also, anyfellow LBC owners in
the Greater Victoria want to get together for a pint? Unfortunately, I
won't ha
I just simply wave at every LBC I see. In fact, I wave at everything
"classic" with the top down! Just in the last week I've passed a TR3, a
TR6, 3 Spitfires, a TR7 roadster, a Lotus (not sure which model) a
handful of MGAs and MGBs, a Shelby Cobra and a '57 Chevy convertible. I
know the last
All,
I ran into a curious situation today. I cannot get my spit to rev higher
than 4500 RPM and when driving over about 4250 RPM. At just above 4000 I
start getting hesitation and by the time I get to 4250 the car is acting
like it's starving for gas. Back down to 4000 or less and all symptoms
I don't know if there is any interest or not, but if you have an old
clutch assembly from a '79 spit or comparable and want another to build
one good one, let me know. I just got my clutch and slave cylinder
replaced (ouch!) and will keep the old one around for a few days just in
case. I don't
Why did I buy a Spitfire? Had to be the overall look of the car! They
just look so darned cool! After getting the checklist and examining the
car I took her for a spin. What a JOY! I have to admit however, I was so
out of touch with the automotive world that I didn't even realize

They were purchased (I believe) by BMW.
