1500 Leaking Again

2003-11-15 Thread Greg Schluge
I have been stopping oil leaks in my 76 for two years now. Slowly but surely I have plugged them up. The last leak was the rear seal. I pulled the engine and found that the seal was pushed all the way to the crank face of the seal plate, and the seal spring jumped off the seal lip and was laying

You need a new pushrod, pushrod pin, and bearing assembly pin with resistance stay. I just did this. My 76 got so bad I could not even shift it into reverse with the engine running. At minimum you are looking at pulling the engine forward 6- 8 inches to get to the pins. Best thng to do is to go

The best way is to use a 1ohm shunt bar between the battery and the charging system. This will gie you one amp per volt. You measure accross the shunt. This way you can examine charging current from idle to road RPM. You can also test with auliliaries like radio, lights on and off. - Origina

I had mine out in 2 hours. First you will have to take the bolts and studs out of the top of the diff. Then drop both wheels, loose the shocks, and take the bolts out of the risers. It should pop right out of there. I was told that I would have to get the springs re-arched. Being cheap, I decide
