I've replaced my rear spring a couple of times, rebuilt the rear
trunnions, and replaced the bushings. The car still has massive
quantities of negative camber on the left side. I used the air

old Spitfire in for MOT, and it failed for rusty brake lines.

According to the Laycock manual that I have, you should use engine
oil. HOWEVER, (and that is a big however), the factory manual
recommends SAE 80 gear oil. And as someone else wrote, _do not_
use GL5 spec. There is a sulfur additive in the GL5 that eats
the brass/bronze.

I was out last night in my Spit between Howell and Brighton,
Michigan, and saw a Spit on a trailer. Couldn't locate the
owner, but the trailer and tow vehicle were registered in
North Carolina. No plates on the Spit. Spit was a 1974 model,
large overriders but still had the metal plate

Reading your note, you really want to put that thermostat
back in. You will find that your car will run much better
with it in place. I used to run without the t-stat, but
with an old cut-down t-stat assembly (gutted the poor
thing). I replaced the t-stat a few years ago and also

First ensure that you have a good ground between the engine and
the frame, as the circuit for the temp relies on this. Second,
if you have another sensor, swap them out.

Are you sure that the gage is electric? Most after-market gages
were mechanical. Therefore not needing the sending unit. The
three prong sending units were used with the brake sensor to
illuminate that light as well. I have put a tee in to tap off
for my pressure gage.
