I went digging a bit. It's not simply a slow blow fast blow issue.
It's got to do with how the Brits vs the yanks rated fuses and wiring
systems.
Severely simplified, an American 20A fuse will carry 20+ amps all day
long. A Lucas 20A fuse will blow before getting to 20 amps. Thi

Ok, you all are great and thanks for the info on the carb. oil. Now, I
have a fuse question. There are four fuses and the top one is 5A, then

John can you give us the serial number off the engine, GT6's last year of
production was '73. Not that this makes a difference in the fuses but it
does help clear up information.

John,
I got tired of the whole "3 fuses" thing and The fact the fuses weren't
making good contact anymore and did just what your contemplating. I removed
the original fuses box and bought (at AutoZone) a Blade type fuse box. This
thing is 3 inches long and holds 4 blade type fuse

I really doubt that chopping up the harness to add more fuses will make your
car more reliable or safe. You will have more electrical connections to fail,

A single fuse for all the headlights is a bad idea, because if it breaks,

Hi all, I have noticed over the past few weeks / months / years /
decadesthat a lot of problems that pertain to wiring circuits...re: this and that
dont workare mostly fuse related. Now I cant speak for other models but my
MkII has 3 fuses, and I am seriously considering putting extra
Mike,and everyone else,
Please beware. Lucas fuses are rated
differently from U.S. fuses. A Lucas 35 amp fuse says 17 amp continous. This
is equivilant(sp) to a 17 amp "BUSS" fuse. A 35 amp"BUSS" fuse will allow
every wire in your car ,w
I have 35A fuses for all three in the fuse block.
For the one that controls the side and tail lights (the middle one??) I
guess it doesn't need to be rated that high. Remember that the other two
both control several functions, so inevitably need to be rated higher than
most modern cars
Can someone tell me what size fuses are supposed to be in a 64 Spitfire?
Today I noticed mine has a 15 amp and a 35 amp. This does not sound right.
