Probably a dumb question, but overdrives are new to me. I just got a 79 spitfire with the J type OD. The car is not currently running. While I have the interior apart, I decided to test the wiring on the overdrive. I'm getting current down to the solenoid with the OD on and the car in third

Since you're on the subject over overdrives. I've been meaning to ask. When you engage overdrive, is it advisable to clutch? If I engage while the car is under a load, the engine sort of grunts and the transmission kicks you forward. Though if I'm nimble with the clutch, the OD kicks in just as yo
