I have a situation where sidewall sprinklers need to be connected to a 3" main. NFPA 13(2002) section states that sidewall sprinklers shall not be installed with deflector more than 6" from the wall. (I am assuming that this applies even if they are not mounted on the wall). However, section 8.7
