This seems like one of those great communication with AHJ/Owner opportunities. A deck is an exterior projection. I am assuming the deck is wood, and no fire-resistant stuff. The only thing height wise is the 24" for obstructions over 4 feet, and the 48" for stages, with stipulations. IMHO, the
