Folder permissions was the issue. Changed the owner and all is good.

On Ethernet Network set up, it gets an IP address via DHCP fine and
finds the Server fine, and appears to set up fine

You make sure you have a designated playlist folder in the setttings and
also make sure the playlist folder is writable for lms , the music files
can be read only , but lms must be able to write to the playlist folder

I don't use playlists too often. I spent some time creating a special
playlist.
I was able to edit it and add to it. It appeared in the Playlist folder
under My Music.

These 2 mixes have embedded album art (which displays fine in
Foobar2000), but refuses to display in LMS 7.9x (or connected devices).
Have tried a complete rescan, clearing database, cache etc. (more than
once) but stubbornly refuses to appear.
Any ideas ?

ok, managed to get local files playing but now i can't get my
squeezebox.com to recognize squeezelite as a player and thus no apps
show up in UI

After upgrading my mac mini to el capitan from snow leopard,i decided to
reinstall LMS. Downloaded LMS 7.9 and installed with no issues.
Installed and configured local player but i get no sound. Its been so
long since a reinstall i can't remember where to begin. Can someone
help. Thanks in advance
