QNAP nas, since the software is replaced by QLOGITECHMEDIASERVER.. or

For backup I have the same on an 219P and working fine

Although the last part of the scentence give the impression that
slim.exe is compiled Perl :)
It's not really compiled. But we're using a tool called PerlApp which
would bundle Perl and all dependencies, plus the scripts and everything
in one executable file.

You might be able to use Roon. I've never tried Roon, but I believe it
can use Squeezeboxes as endpoints - I dare say someone with experience
will comment.
But a cheaper option would be to set up a Raspberry Pi using
piCorePlayer to run LMS. My main LMS server is a Raspberry Pi version 3
