I thought I'd tighten the security in LMS and now when trying to get
into Settings from the Remote control (right clicking the LMS icon in
the tray) the browser just opens up the window but I then get the
message that the connection was broken.

Thanks for your help.
I've mae the downgrade, to 7.9.3, but the problem is the same, it
reaches 80% and it hangs.
With this version it says it is trying to start LMS but it never
happen...

It sounds you had the QLMS upgrade to trigger an upgrade of LMS to 8.0.
That happened to me and I got similar problem like you describe.
You can try to start in failsafe mode manually, that will probably work.
If it does it means that you have some plugins that dont run with LMS
8.0.

I tried to send this off-list, but no dice. Maybe because I'm a newby on
these forums, or something I did wrong.
I did receive your PM.
Anyway - here it is. I deleted the scan of my large media library other
than the last entry. The scanner.log preamble and footer are both there
though.
What LMS? What OS? What about log files?

I'm trying to install version 2.20 of Logitech Media Server but it
always hangs at 80%. My NAS is TS-431P.
I had previous versions working. Yesterday, after trying the upgrade i

I notice that occasionally the scanner will freeze. For me it always
seems to be during pre-caching artwork. When this happens it is
impossible to stop the scanner process using kill process in htop and
