indeed most likely, as already mentioned here, that you could have the
wrong set of permissions for your mount point. On Max2Play's Filesystem

Please try renaming your Max2Play device. Also, make sure you do not
have another Squeezebox Server installed on the M2P device that
interferes with your server.

Our current images are all based on Raspbian Jessie lite and we
encourage users enhancing their build of Max2Play to their own needs.
The web interface and the possibility to add useful plugins stays intact
and we actually have some tools and an example class

Our installs of Max2Play's LMS instance (7.9 nightly) have run
successfully and without problems for long periods of time, both on the
RPi2 and on the RPi3. As DJanGo mentioned, the Pi3 would be preferable.
