I have just opened LMS Default GUI > Plugins and Material does
_not__show under active plug-ins? I have learnt this means there is an
update.
There is no comment besides 'Help' on LMS bottom left screen.
If I restart LMS it
What is the status of this?
I tried to understand what's going on, and was once again shocked by how
convoluted the plugin handling is... so I gave up after a while.

What is the status of this?
As far as I can tell:
a) This problem still exists in the latest 8.0
b) It only occurs when automatic plugin updates are enabled
c) It is an LMS bug that affects all skins, not just Material

Just as an update here, my backup server, which hasn't been used for a
couple of weeks showed Material version 1.8.3 as available for update.
This server doesn't have the option for automatically downloading plugin
updates checked. Screenshot below...

I'm monitoring two Raspberry Pi3 servers, each with LMS8.0.0 and
Material, one has automatic updating turned on, the other doesn't.
Hopefully I'll discern a pattern!

Sometimes I just get a "2" as notification, that's why I'm asking. The
information which

I already let them update, so I can't say for sure right now. From
memory, there's nothing unusual there. If there's an LMS update, I

Well, this is weird. I currently have 2 plugins in this state (Spotty
and Material). They are not shown anywhere in any of the following
places:
- Default->Settings->Plugins
- Material->Server Settings->Plugins
- Material->Information
However, both skins do prompt me to do a restart.
I am
I've been keeping an eye on what my servers do with updated plugins -
and I'm finding it very variable - sometimes plugins for update are
shown and sometimes they are not. I'm not sure if this correlates with
updates to LMS itself.

Maybe it's an LMS version thing? I also recently removed a bunch of
plugins I didn't use, so I have a fairly minimal set of plugins.
I'm pretty sure that a couple of weeks ago I saw the same issue as
you've described in this

Also visible via the Information link in Material, and in the Default
web interface settings screen on this server! I wonder what's going
on...this is quite mysterious!

Interesting. I may not have checked that page. They definitely go
missing from the Information page in Material.

My server LMS8.0.0 with Material showed me a list of plugins for update
a few days ago - I'll have to wait till I have some plugin updates to
see if that's still the case!

I'm still confused. Is the fact that these plugins are not listed
intentional? Why?

That's some not so perfect JS magic happening on that page: the "please
resart" message would be shown there at the top. The default skin's JS
would pick that up to show a popup instead of a message at the top. But
it seems to not remove all
It looks like as if there -should- be something:
Pending restart, the "Active plugins" label is shifted downwards for
some reason:
30663
After the restart:
30664
Wasn't there something above "Active plugins" at some point in time
indicating which plugins are being updated?

This has probably been like this for a long time and I just noticed it
now, but...
Whenever a plugin is in the "updated but pending restart" state, it no
longers shows on the Settings->Plugins page on LMS. It's not listed as
"inactive", it just goes completely missing until after the restart.
